With about 5 great
flights and over 60 minutes of flying time on her. The A-10
Model I is now in the great balsa graveyard in the sky.

A-10 Crash !!! This
is what was left...
Flying to low and slow this was all that
was needed to crash the A-10. I can say that I did stall the wing
and with very little airflow over the wing on my base turn on final
to land - the aircraft was in the beginnings of a spin. With only
about 50 feet off the ground and no real way of getting out of the
start of a spin - crashed at the south end on the runway. What you
see above is what is left of Model I.
Note: I will use these fins on Model III
of the next A-10 I build for luck !
03/07/01 The "Phoenix" -
- Well almost !!
Your going to like this. When I scrach build
I make two. I think about it this way. If you got the plans, balsa,
and some time why not make a back-up. So without any delay to my
upcoming warbird fly-in this spring. By this weekend I will be flying
A-10 II. She will be powered by the same O.S. 40 SF - but this time
I will remember not to get her to slow.
Before
the paint Fresh
paint job on model II. Look for new flight test photos and video
clips soon. And look for a third model to be built with weapons
payload.
